New Year Resolutions

Every time a New Year passes by, we see ourselves going in another cycle of life. While many seem to have the idea that the New Year marks a fresh beginning or a new chapter, its just an age-old illusion that has blinded our civilization for years. Its to no surprise that despite the centuries, nothing much has changed, at least human nature, that is. Can we really say that we are moving into a more civilized age? A better tomorrow? Apart from having more shiet around, we aren’t really moving anywhere. Its kinda a cynical view, but when you take enough time to observe, the whole year revolves around the same cycle. Over and over again, stories of others not going anywhere, doing the same thing over and over again, unable to find fulfilment in life.

Its kinda a fact that, in actual fact (with emphasis on ‘fact’), we aren’t that unique after all. You, me, the guy next door - We are all the same - at heart - the same human nature reveals itself in every one of us. Until we admit that, perhaps, we aren’t so big after all, then can we actually pull ourselves together to actually begin putting on some weight (Well, literally -.-). Its a nature that we can never put down unless we die to the soul, and live by a different purpose. Which really begins to show the difference between us.

A purpose-driven life - Living with a goal, a dream to achieve - versus living life to be happy, and content . . Well, we all want to be happy - thats why were selfish in the first place. Nothing wrong with that, its human nature after all, but that you realize that, how are you going to deal with it? We’re all on a happy quest after all - we expect life to be a bed of roses, and when it doesn’t seem that way, we curse everything around us.

We keep lying to ourselves that the world isn’t fair. Wrong. It is. The simple law of cause and effect. Being in a terrible situation warrants change, which only you can instigate. You refuse to instigate change and then you blame the circumstances. Imagine blaming the rain that you got wet - You could have brought the umbrella - you won’t be able to stop the rain. Everything that you did, or did not do - has had a part in the outcome of events. And you’re complaining to me its not fair? You just did not influence the equation enough to change the result. 1+1=2, and that will always stay the same. Until you change the numbers, then can you change the results.

Which brings me to a very interesting talk I heard once. . . “What is the common denominator in every bad event in your life?” . . Circumstances change, environments change, the people involved were probably different, a different problem a different issue. But what was the same in every bad event you experienced in your life? In mine? Its me! No other person! The only variable that has been constant is, the person experiencing the event! So wheres the problem you ask? Bad or good, happy or sad, its just an emotion, a reaction to how we relate to events that occur around us. So in the end, how do you feel? I don’t think I should give a damn. Emotions don’t change anything. If you want to change something, you need to get real results, to change the facts, changing something real rather than wallowing in your emotions, getting all worked up, and feeling depressed all day. So much for human intelligence.

And they keep saying, its not about whether you reach your destination. Its about the roses you smell along the way. You don’t reach your destination, you don’t reach. Roses are optional. Failing to meet your destination, fails you as a human being. By all means, smell the roses and enjoy life, but if you don’t actually step forward, you stay where you are. Simple. Fact. How you feel? Doesn’t really matter . . .If your circumstances stay difficult, you’ll keep feeling bad . . so change them for Christ’s sake!

Its almost sad to see so many individuals with so many dreams, with so much talent, being wasted away with their dreams and hope for a future, but are not working their way towards that dream. God never said that we will be happy all the time. He doesn’t care whether you cry a river or not. He wants you to fulfil your promise, to be His. And all else will be added unto you. What a simple truth . . Well, that is if you want to believe.

Life with a purpose.

Reunifiying a Phase

As time passes, its strange that what we has seemed to be improbable in the past is actually reality today. Perhaps I’m just hinting at something much deeper, but its been about 3 years since I first decided to take up that oath, and I really am not sure what role we play anymore.

Well, this probably aint new that I’ve been constantly rambling about the state we are in .  .Sometimes, or perhaps eventually, despair begins to set in. While we still continue to struggle our way through, a lingering question keeps popping in the back of the mind. Why? Really . . why? Perhaps its easy to give in to despair, but there are those few who are driven with the hope and faith that they will be able to finally make a change.

It is just too often that we keep meeting people who do nothing but run around in circles. And hell, in the place i’ve been put - to be honest, I know - thats where I’ve been assigned - and neither do I question the authority who placed me there. But its been a while, and I’m still not able to fully reprise my role as I always had. By completing one task after another, does it justify the fact that things just get exponentially more difficult? I really don’t want to know - Perhaps its better leaving the future to someone who really knows what He’s doing.

And its interesting when you take time to observe the people around you. Which is why, the more and the longer you observe, and for me personally, the more assured I am of the direction I have set for myself.  Well, its not really my direction anymore haha . . Its almost amazing observing the stark differences in those who live a purpose-filled life. be honest, I AM a critic, and I look down on losers though I may never say it. Life is like that. Take it or leave it. I cannot respect those who refuse to accept reality.  One can never find happiness in life unless they create the opportunity. But who am I to say? We’ll just have to wait and be there when the time of realisation comes. Sadly, for some, it may be too late. But I’m sorry . . because I’ve always been there to lend a hand had you simply asked for it. So please, don’t start screaming high and low that my life seems easier than yours. Please, keep it to yourself when you don’t know anything about me.

All in a day’s work, you could say. All that is left is the hope that drives us on. I still will never regret the commitment - and thanks to someone who has brought me all along throughout the past few years - The network is being set in place, waiting for the pawns to fulfil their duty. In the end, were all pawns in a much bigger game than we think. Well, I’m waiting for the day we can finally declare checkmate. We’ve got a life to accomplish - not live.

Worth the Race?

Its kind of strange that many old questions continually plague our lives - despite the fact we answer them, they simply bounce off and return some other dau to haunt us all over again . .

Its been a while since that decision was made, but then again, I’m starting to wonder if it was a wise choice? Knowing what you are jumping into, yet pretending to be oblivious to the tell-tale signs of the hellhole ahead.

Fast forward the past 2 months, virtually nothing has been accomplished. . . Despite the fact that perhaps there is some sort of growth, which perhaps I’m trying to pretend to see, is it really worth it? Despite knowing the truth to the answer, I can’t really help, but to be human after all.

Maybe thats why 2 millenia hasn’t really changed much, its a given since the 1st century. He said it Himself, unless the heart is changed, nothing else ever will - I’ll let Him decide one last time. I think I’ve sacrificed more than what I’m capable of, but obviously its either going in the wrong direction, or not reaching the right people. But thats the fact, people grow weary, and when we do, well, its time to take off and fly. That same question has always been resounding in my head - and why the heck am I doing this? It is almost pointless…

My allegiance won’t shatter, but perhaps its time to open new doors and create new paths - Unless somebody stands up and actually does something - it will never change, as it has been for the past 4 years of this assignment. All that effort was equivalent to nothing after all, lives were not transformed . . . Where have we gone wrong?

So on with the ramblings . . . I’ve hoped to see that vision that He always had - If only I had the direction to which to accomplish it? Or maybe I’m just too impatient after all. . .

The Big 8: 8 Things About A Chinese Wedding

Here are 8 interesting facts I managed to find out while attending a Chinese wedding dinner:

1. If the guys around a table don’t know each other, they’ll pretend and look around, up down left and right, anywhere except where the person next to them is sitting . .

2. Everybody holds a very long face until their eyes accidentally bumps into another long face, then they both smile for a while, then resume the long face as soon as they break contact. .

3. When the first dish arrives, everybody will wait around the table, and smile and usher other people to take, but the moment the first person reaches out and takes, they mob the dish like starving african children. .

4. When the fish dish arrives, everybody keeps taking the flesh on top till tis sparkling clean, and they’ll do everything including clawing thru the bones just to get the flesh under, but somehow or other, they seem to forget they can turn the fish over.

5. When the MC is talking, everybody is busy stuffing their mouths . . .

6. Smarter fellas will demand for beer when its not on the dinner menu - but they get it anyway or else they might just mess the evening up. . .

7. Karaoke singers on stage sing worse than your grandma singing in the shower. . or granpa, oh well either will do . . .

8. Upon dessert, some guests seem to take the cue that its time to go and automatically stand up and face the door, just to realise their mistake and sit down again, or they’ll shuffle a little then sit down again . . . The moment the hosts stand at the door to usher the guests home, they’ll be the first out . . .

So proud to be Chinese!

BTSC 2008 - An Old Beginning?

With the BTSC 2008 concluding today, it has made me wonder - what has the camp achieved in me? In my other brothers and sisters in faith?

Its almost completely ironic that despite the fact that Christianity has existed on the face of the Earth for over 2000 years, it has failed to positively affect the development and growth of civilization. It is almost like an impeding doom that seems to be inevitable no matter how much we seem to proclaim His word, that Jesus came to save us, and bla bla bla . . What are we doing? Something has caused the effect that over 2000 years, Christianity has yet to create a positive impact on the world! Or has it helped to cushion the negative fall of humanity which is inevitable? Nobody really knows, but the simple fact lies - The world is getting worse, and nobody seems to doubt that. . . .

The big problem is that, everytime we have something like BTSC, a camp retreat, I’ll be honest, that such camps are such a powerful support for me especially when I am down and drained, that I can see so many others of the same faith, with the drive and determination to follow God. But, camps like these have been ongoing for centuries, hundreds of years - and despite all that - where is Christianity today? Sure, its the second largest religion, but what is the state of the world that it is supposed to influence?

The has to be a reason why for 2000 years, we have failed to impart a positive growth, or at least to create an accumulated effect to at least neutralize the fall of civilization, but yet we have failed - for 2 millenia. There has to be something wrong, that has caused this effect for 2000 years. I am not trying to say the Word is false - because to start of with, not a single believer can say that they have understood and lived out the Word completely 100%! So we cannot blame the Word in any way, but in man. What has been the common denominator in civilization for 2000 years? In some ways, its no other, than Man! The heart of Man! The nature of Man, which is evil in nature! Its a reminder that for 2000 years, we have failed to live out Jesus teachings on Earth - as the cumulative effect is still negative. Are we to blame the non believers? Over a span of 2000 years, I don’t think so. Somehow or other, I’m always reminded, that even a a believer, I am nothing, God is what drives me, God is the person who makes me who I am, my gifts, my talents, everything I have is that of God’s not mine. Before I knew God, I thought I was good, I am great or something like that - despite the fact that I was a Christian already, but I didn’t know God. . .

It feels as if the call today is a rebuilding of the internal kingdom of God - bring back the lost sheep, not trying to pull in new lost sheep, but those which have been saved, but have yet fallen astray. I admit I have fallen short of His standars over and over again, despite the fact that I know I am saved, I am a believer, but yet I fall, and ahve to go back to Him and repent over a myriad of different issues every time. We have to depend on God, not on mankind. That is why mankind has been in a downward spiral for 2000 years! Its only when we realise our intelligence is indeed our foolishness, then we realise there really is something behind it. Technology has not been so good has it? Has development been truly good for civilization? I don’t think so.

So it comes back to the question, are we going to keep going to revival meetings? As mentioned before, we only need to be revived once! If we keep going in for revival, that means something is wrong, because we are still constantly dying again! So was that revival actually a revival? When one is reborn, there is no turning back, but when one seems to turn back, was the rebirth truly from the heart? Or was it an incomplete rebirth? WE can go for as many BTSC’s as we like, but if we fail to keep that fire burning, we’ll just be going for the next, and accomplishing nothing new, no matter how great the revival is.

Gamer Freaks

Its been a couple of days break since the trip to Miri, and it certainly feels good to be able to play all day :D . . But after a few days like this, yeah it starts to feel a little pointless, one now that my team isn’t as close to me literally speaking, so can’t play with them in the hostel anymore WAAAAAA . . . . So wish to go back into professional gaming but . . zzz . . . getting old lor. .  have to retire T.T

Theres always been this saying that gamers are dumb~toot~s and losers who have noa bility to communicate with the outside world . . How false it is, how can you judge by just a case of addiction as opposed to those who really love games for what it is - its an art, and its the expression of the human mid. I know a lot of professional gamers with personalities bigger than some of your holy holy fellas in church - and my respect goes out to those - well particularly team games of course, after all those ar ethe ones that ar epopular - playing with people.

It is true that games cannot emulate real life. There are mearly illusions and copies of what resembles the real thing, and we try to express ourselves within these games - interacting with people via the virtual platform, that we can shroud ourselves in. And its only in this platform that we get to the the true human character revealed at its worst. The worst killer is not found outside in the world, but in the game, where nobody really knows who you are, then you wan to tunjuk gigi la .  .

And it is in these environments that we get to see, mend and treat such character, especially in the teams that develop strong and lasting friendships - because a game is a simulation of the world - without the same qualities in a team found in the real world, a virtual team will fall as hard. And it is in these virtual environments that we get to truly shape our character in the right way in a safe zone and in a trusted circle of friends. Well, you can choose to go out into the world and get backstabbed before you realise that there is something called backstabbing (well, in games they literally stab you in the back . . but the concept is there bah . . )

So u say that the virtual enrivonment is  not the equivalent of reality? Very true indeed. Well, I can list down an equal number of losers living outside there in reality, sucessful bastards, poor losers - its the same all around in every arena in every domain it is the same. Because the common denominator in every one of these situations are basically - human -.

So please don’t go around stereotyping gamers - you wanna try - you can take me on a 1 on 1 skill challenge - anything you want - you name it and well see how many more the so-called ‘reality’ skills you have superior to mine.

Life on the 24/7

Just lovin it.  .Where in the world can you attend a wedding ceremony in the morning, work and coordinate a whole presentation  in the afternoon, accompany a friend for tea, and then travel all across the state in the evening? Really crazy life. . but this is kinda what I’ve always wanted . .  life on the run is so much more exciting than wel. .  normal life la . .  But yea . .  its takign a big drain out of energy . .  all so that I can meet a couple of old friends . . try to contact this and that . . I dn’t know . . is this really what I’m supposed to do? Its almost as if the 24/7 curse is real . . .

But that’s the gist of it . . not many can say they’ve been a nobody but a somebody to everybody else haha . . . The journey up the state has also given me a clear reminder and a walkthrough of my history . . well . . thats whats its like when you grew up all over the place ..  haha . . well . . its been a very interesting trip . . especially with so many events going around, thats what life is all about!

Well . . down to serious stuff later .. , time to unwind a bit. . .

Full Circle

There was once a Warcraft custom map called Full Circle where players had to basically run in circles around the map, trying to accomplish goals etc etc to win and sort of get out of the circle. . . Its kinda ironic that reality is pretty much the same. .  Everybody is born into a circular track, where we constantly go through the cycles of life, over and over and over until we finally decide to break that circle and get out into, well . . . a bigger circle lol . .

Its in astronomy to . . the same way orbits work, eveyrthing revolved around a centre mass, naturally falling towrds the core slowly unless enough energy can be attained to get out of the gravity pull, and move into a larger orbit - hence, getting away from the body it is orbiting, a larger elipse, at a higher velocity.

So what makes an individual capable of moving out of orbit? Naturally exteroir forces that propel it in either direction, speeding up or slowing down . .And kinda interestingly, we also make use of the slingshot effect to further improve speed so that an object can attain escape velocity faster with less effort . . .

So whats the point you say? All ths crap . . .  1. We are all born in some sort of cycle which we continously revolve around (I know the days do change, but the phases in reality don’t) 2. To break out of the cycle, we need to utilize some sort of force in some direction - force in the wrong direction will virtually crash us too . . 3. Knowledge and the ability to manipulate and control the environments and the rules around us will make the task much much easier . . Man would have never made it off Earth had they tried to use a rocket to blast straight up into the sky (Well . . if you still think that rocket launches go up vertically all the way, you have a loooong way to go :P)

And of course the most important thing - in order to fall into a lower orbit, it requires the loss of velocity, which requires force, hence effort - Counter force to the initial force used to reach higher velocity = waste. Never look back - crawlers can crawl till their ready to go, but don’t ever try to slow down for others, they have to catch up, or it would cost you everything. . . . Well, aren’t future generations supposed to reach far beyond what we have? Most certainly . . They have to ovetake the responsibility eventually, so perhaps its best not to try to make things any easier for them . .

Best SC Quotes

"You speak of knowledge, Judicator? You speak of experience? I have journeyed through the darkness between the most distant stars. I have beheld the births of negative-suns and borne witness to the entropy of entire realities… Unto my experience, Aldaris, all that you’ve built here on Aiur is but a fleeting dream. A dream from which your precious Conclave shall awaken, finding themselves drowned in a greater nightmare." - Zeratul

——————————————————————-

"With all due respect, Zeratul, the Protoss do not run from their enemies. Aiur is our homeworld. It is here that we shall make our stand!"  - Aldaris

" Just as your Conclave did? They are dead now, Aldaris, dead because they allowed their pride to blind their reason. Only if we learn from their mistakes can we live to avenge them. " - Zeratul

————————————————————————

"Though we strike at you from the shadows, do not think that we lack the courage to stand in the light."  - Zeratul

————————————————————————

“Your coming has been foretold… You are part of the culmination. But not the end of it. You shall show the way, the path that must be taken, the realigning of old truths no longer valid. Yours is not the hand, but your very existence provides necessary instruction.” - Zeratul

———————————————————————–

Its so true in a way . . . Who said games are useless? They realise truths much greater than you so-called people who have ‘life’ out there. Will add more when Ive got the time. . The Starcraft saga must have been one of the best . .

The Ideal Sandbox?

sometimes, it is realy difficult to decide, whether or not to train up people in a Sandbox, rather than in reality. While a sandbox is potentially safe and nothing can actually be destructive no matter what happens, is this really the proper way to train up an individual? Perhaps its the knowledge that nothign can go wrong that causes one to lose one’s edge in a prescribed role, and end up taking it very lightly as opposed to another being put in the direct line of fire.

Sometimes its a very difficult task at hand, deciding whether or not one should continously try to protect those trying to grow, for fear that they may be hurt beyond recovery - But it is difficult to decide. Unless a man is burned by fire, no matter how many times we warn him of the damage it can do, he probably would’nt understand . . . Perhaps its time to let go and stop protecting those around us, and let them get slapped around a little bit and feel real pain, that they will know what it feels like to really get hurt and learn from it, rather than constantly trying to fill in for their constraints.

But in the end, its stilla very delicate process, and we have to consider the individuals involed. A toughie would be best thrown into the fire and left to fend for himself, but what about the softie? Throwing them into the fire would probably cause them to get roasted for good rather than having them to crawl out of the fire. . . . So in the end, can we really be called a loving guardian if we constantly try to protect those under our care? Or would it be appropriate to let them get burned a little? Perhaps exposing a little bit more of the world, one step at a time may be the best solution - though its a very big question just how long that would take. We need trained people, pretty much now. Every delay only results in greater loss for an ongoing call. Everything is moving around us. Are we going to crawl or surge forth? Where would we be at the end of the day?
